Celebrate America Recycles Day This Month!
Join us in reaching the national recycling goal and increase the U.S. recycling rate to 50% by 2030.
On America Recycles Day (November 15), New Jersey Natural Gas and United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) celebrate the importance of recycling.
Recycling everyday objects such as paper, bottles, and magazines helps to save energy. The recycled materials are reused to create new products you buy. Recycling helps to lower energy consumption, too.
Here’s six simple tips for quick and easy recycling:
1. Keep recyclables clean and dry; check for liquid inside of cans.
2. Compost holiday food scraps.
3. Keep plastic bags and wraps out of your recycling bin.
4. Empty and flatten cardboard boxes before you recycle them.
5. Pizza boxes are recyclable; pizza (and all food) is not.
6. Check out EPA’s Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Resources for fun activities to entertain the Thanksgiving kid’s table this month.
